How safe is Belize?Belize is a safer place than other countries in Central America. Tourists aren’t targeted by criminals. However, please be careful. Here is the totally different country from yours. You should take a taxi after sunset, and choose main streets.

Which currency can we use?Banks or currency exchange shops don’t deal with foreign currencies other than US$. You can use BZ$ and US$ everywhere in Belize.

How is the exchange rate?Belize has the fixed exchange rate system (the dollar-peg system), so 1 US$ always means 2 BZ$. The rate from BZ$ to US$ is not good, so you should use up your BZ$ in Belize.

Do you accept credit cards?You can use your VISA, MASTER, and American Express. (sometimes Discover and Diners) They might have the least limit, or get a commission, 5% of your payment. You might be required to show your ID card at some supermarkets.
You can’t use ATMs of Belize Bank with foreign credit cards, so please use Atlantic Bank, Heritage Bank and so on.

What should we bring for sightseeing?You might be caught in a squall, so bring some rain apparels. When it’s sunny, sunshine is very strong. Please bring your hat, sunglasses and sun umbrella.
There are many mosquitos and other bugs. You should use a bug spray. We recommend to wear longs to prevent mosquitos in jungle and ruins.

How is the Belizean cuisine?The Belizean cuisine has rice and tortilla as principal food. You can also enjoy Chinese restaurants.

How are the prices in Belize?They are not low, because we import many stuffs. A 500ml bottle of water costs 1 US$, A bottle of shampoo is 7.5 US$, and A bug spray is 10-15 US$.

Are taxis safe?Yes, of course in Belize. Taxis have green license plates. They don’t have taximeter, but you will pay about 25 US$ from the international airport to Belize City, and 3-5 US$ for 1 ride in Belize City.

Can we ask for a discount?No, you can’t. We don’t have a haggling custom.

How long does it take to transfer from international flight to domestic one?About 45 mins. It takes 30 mins to pass the immigration, baggage hall and customs, and 15 mins to check in and pass security check.

What time is the best for Blue Hole aerial tour?We recommend from 9:00am to sunset, especially 10:00am because of the condition of your body and the weather.

What is the common language in Belize?It is English, and Spanish is also used in their daily conversation, but many people have creole accent.

When is the tourist village open? Can we enter there?It is open on the day the cruise ships arrive. People who take cruise ship can enter and shop. Other people can enter if you deposit your passport, but still can’t shop there.

Where do you have beaches in Belize City?We don’t have beaches in Belize City. Please visit San Pedro, Caye Caulker, or Placencia. Or you can enjoy the amusement park with pool and museum in Old Belize
