Safety measures | Belize City is said that it’s the safest in Central America. Tourists are rarely target for crimes. However, you shouldn’t show your valuables in the public and take a taxi after the sunset. Cars with green plate are taxi and they don’t have a taximeter so you should negotiate and confirm the price. |
Diseases | You don’t have to worry about malaria, dengue fever and Chagas in tourist spots. We have lots of mosquitos and sandflies so we recommend to use bug spray. Please try to drink water as frequently as possible to prevent heatstroke. |
Photos | You can’t take any photos in the airport, immigration and custom. When you take a picture of native people, please gain their approval. In general Creoles are open-minded, Garifunas don’t want to be taken pictures, and Mayans are very shy. |
